How Caplane handles screenshots on your Mac, Apple purchase information, and the feedback you choose to send
Last updated: October 24, 2026Screenshots, annotations, and the Rail
Caplane captures, annotates, pins, and reviews screenshots on your Mac. It does not require a Caplane account, and it does not upload screenshots or annotations to a Caplane cloud service.
The Capture Rail is the temporary collection for the work you are doing. In the current V1 implementation it lives in the app session. When you quit, Caplane warns that Rail captures will be removed. It is not a long-term online screenshot library.
Where exported images and preferences go
When you export, Caplane writes PNG files to the folder you choose. Those files remain subject to the storage, backup, sync, and sharing choices you make for that folder.
Caplane also keeps limited app preferences on your Mac, such as annotation style, shortcuts, permission guidance, and trial-time observation. These preferences are not your screenshot contents.
StoreKit verifies access
If you start a trial, purchase, or restore a purchase, Caplane uses Apple StoreKit to load products and verify your entitlement. The app uses verified entitlement information to decide whether capture is available; it does not rely on a separately saved purchase flag.
Apple handles Apple Account, payment, and App Store purchase records under Apple’s own terms and privacy practices. Caplane’s current StoreKit products are non-consumable trial and full-unlock products, not a recurring subscription.
Only the form you submit is sent
When you choose Send feedback, the form sends exactly four fields: product_id (caplane), type, message, and product_version. It does not automatically attach screenshots, pins, Review items, the page you are viewing, your name, or your email.
Please do not include passwords, private information, or screenshot contents in feedback. Product feedback is collected to improve Caplane and does not normally receive an individual reply.
Cloudflare Worker and D1
Submitted feedback is handled by MarchO’s shared feedback Cloudflare Worker and stored in Cloudflare D1. Raw online feedback is kept for up to 90 days and is removed by scheduled cleanup.
The service uses connection IP only as a temporary abuse-prevention key; it is not an Issue field written into the feedback database. Cloudflare may still process connection information needed to operate and protect the service, and D1 recovery systems may retain earlier states for an additional infrastructure recovery period. We therefore do not describe feedback as completely anonymous or record-free.
Basic page views
MarchO uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count basic page views and loading performance on Caplane website pages. It does not send your screenshots, annotations, feedback text, Apple Account information, or Mac app activity to website analytics, and does not set analytics cookies or a cross-site visitor ID. See the MarchO website Privacy page for details.
